George Hou, born in 1970, relocated from Beijing to Shenzhen in 1992, where he has lived and worked ever since. He is a follower of classicism with an avant-garde experimental spirit. Hou believes that understanding the essence of material reality is the foundation of existence, and that the transcendental dimensions accumulated through this process of understanding embody the true meaning of life.

His art seeks to bridge classical history with the boundless unknowns of the future, pursuing a sense of creative eternity within specific, localized conditions—an endeavor he sees as the true direction of life.

George firmly believes that the immediacy of the mind is the source of creation. He sees contemporary art as the most direct and effective catalyst for activating perception and thought, and views contemporary ink painting as a vast and profound vessel of the soul.
